The Sixth Form Discovery Programme is led by Mr Eustace and is dedicated to fostering the holistic development of our students by nurturing character, promoting personal growth, and instilling a profound sense of kindness - one of our core school values. Zero Gravity is an online support system that is free. Students will have access to:

Basketball Programme
The Basketball Academy at Kingsley Academy is an innovative Post-16 provision fostering the ambitions of our student - athletes in the sixth form. Led by Mr Tannis-Harriet, we offer players premier coaching, mentoring, and character development during their time at Kingsley. Alongside the opportunity to partake in notable basketball leagues and tournaments, Student-Athletes benefit from high intensity basketball contact encompassing individual and group sessions, strength training, and performance analysis. An emphasis on academic excellence ensures support both on and off the court.
Community service
This is where all Year 12 students get the opportunity to ‘give back’ some of their time to the school for a minimum of 2 hours per week. Students may do one or more of the following:
- Mentoring younger students
- Reading with younger students
- Helping in lessons around the school
- Running the ‘Kingsbury’ tuckshop
A certificate of completion is awarded at the end of the year and forms a useful experience that can be added to statements when applying to university.
PSHSE
All students follow the ‘Your Journey of Life’ Key Stage 5 programme of study. The programme engages students with new approaches– students choose their career and note down how much they will earn, placing them at the centre of their own journey as they find out whether they will be able to afford the things they want out of life; will they be able to buy a house, own a car or have a pet?
As they progress through the programme, they learn about real life issues and experiences, and make decisions about their future using real-world information and scenarios. Students learn about the skills they need to be able to manage these situations, with the occasional unexpected challenge thrown in too, just like the real thing!
EPQ
Our Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is closely aligned with our Discovery Programme, which emphasises holistic character development. The EPQ offers students an exciting opportunity to explore a topic of their choice, fostering critical thinking, independent research, and time management skills. These attributes are fundamental to the Discovery Programme, which seeks to develop well-rounded individuals equipped with the skills and values necessary for success beyond the classroom. By undertaking an EPQ, students not only enhance their academic profile but also cultivate resilience, creativity, and self-discipline—key traits that are nurtured through the Discovery Programme’s focus on personal growth and character education.
Mastery
Our Mastery Programme is designed to deepen students' understanding of, ensuring they achieve excellence in their academic studies. This focus on mastering knowledge and skills is closely linked to our Discovery Programme, which emphasises holistic character development. As students engage with the Mastery Programme, they cultivate perseverance, attention to detail, and a growth mindset—qualities essential for personal success. These academic and personal attributes align seamlessly with the Discovery Programmes aim to develop well-rounded individuals, equipping students with not only intellectual prowess but also the resilience, discipline, and self-awareness needed to thrive in all aspects of life.
Grocers' Academy Awards
The "Grocers' Academy Awards" school competition is an initiative run by The Worshipful Company of Grocers, one of the Great Twelve Livery Companies of the City of London. This competition is targeted at schools and focuses on developing students' knowledge and skills in areas like business, marketing, and entrepreneurship, often with a connection to the grocery or retail sectors.
Schools participate by presenting projects, ideas, or solutions related to the grocery industry, such as product development, marketing strategies, or addressing real-world challenges faced by retailers. The competition aims to engage young people in learning about the grocery trade and business skills while offering them the chance to compete for recognition and awards.
